Carnes Office Supply

Back in 1981, at the kitchen table, we began working on our plans to open a small card & gift shop. In the fall of that year, Carnes Corner was open for business. We sold a variety of things, such as: greeting cards, gifts, candy, popcorn, iron-on T-shirts and a very small section of office supplies. Being a new store, business wasnt very brisk, as... no one knew of us. To speed things up, Norm Carnes got the idea to call on area businesses about selling them office supplies. He started by calling mostly on family and friends who owned businesses, because we knew very little about office supplies back then. Gradually, one at a time, we picked up new accounts, learning as we went. That small section of office supplies grew larger and larger, which shrank the other sections of the store. In 1984, we changed the name to Carnes Office Supply. By that time, the office supplies had pretty much pushed everything else out. One thing we learned along the way was that customers were not getting good service from other dealers. That became our core business approach, to give the best level of service possible. That's why were still here and were still growing. There have been a lot of changes in the industry since our beginning. As many as nine office supply dealers have left the Canton area, either by selling out, moving or going under. We feel its our commitment to service that has kept us in business through the changes. Carnes Office Supply remains family owned and operated, the same way it began.
