Caring For Kids

All of us will help our kids help kids have safe places to sleep. We will make sure children and babies have basic needs to ensure their lives are as good as possible in these uncertain times. In December 2020 alone, Caring for Kids distributed 37 beds and cribs to deserving children and babies. Most of these kiddos had never slept alone before. Ma... ny of them were sleeping with mom or grandma, therefore in danger of being exposed to drug, alcohol and/or sexual abuseperhaps even suffocation. No child should co-sleep. Some of our kids have been sleeping on the cold, hard floors of their homes. Kids need to be ready for school and work with good nights sleep. They need to be ready to face their peers with happy attitudes. None of this can happen when children are not well rested. We want all our kids to have the gift of a good nights rest, and that is what we will give them in the gift of a bed. Caring For Kids recently had an article about the organization published in the Old Newsboys edition of the Post Dispatch: For years, Caring for Kids has worked tirelessly to provide children with everyday needs. Social workers partner with this nonprofit organization to receive funds for ages newborn to 21. The funds provide children with essential needs such as beds, school supplies, uniforms and food. We give them anything that will make them feel like theyre just regular kids, said Jan Abrams, executive director. Caring for Kids focuses on lending a hand to children who have been involved in the St. Louis court system. They make all efforts to respond to requests within three days. The nonprofit has helped approximately 1,300 kids since its establishment in 2003. Though Abrams believes the organization has always met essential needs in the community, since the outbreak of COVID-19 the needs and demands have grown tremendously.
