Caring Center

The Caring Center is a not for profit organization formed by parents and professional staff to deliver exemplary early childhood education and promote family and community development. The Center serves approximately 200 children and has a staff of almost 50 employees with an annual operating budget of over two million dollars. The Center was one o... f the first five institutions in the Delaware Valley to meet the rigorous voluntary accreditation standards of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The center recently received reaccreditation for another five years. The Caring Center is a year round program serving children from six weeks to eight years old. During the summer months, the center offers a summer camp program. The Caring Center has been designated as a STAR 4 (the highest designation) by Pennsylvania's Keystone STARS Early Childhood Learning Initiative. Keystone STARS is a component of the Office of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) designed to improve, support and recognize the continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in the State of Pennsylvania. Since 1993, several Caring Center teachers have won the prestigious Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children's TYLENOL National Child Care Teacher Award. In 2003, The Caring Center was a recipient of the "Best Place to Work Award" from the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children. The Caring Center's most recent accomplishment is the successful acquisition of the affiliate license for the Raising a Reader Program from the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern Jersey. Through this national book lending program, The Caring Center partners with local programs who are interested in improving and supporting early literacy.
