CareConnect is now part of the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN). The Ontario Telemedicine Network uses videoconferencing and advanced information communication technologies to deliver clinical, educational and administrative services to more than 400 health care sites province-wide. Our goal is the seamless integration of telemedicine into everyday health care delivery. OTN is offering telemedicine solutions to every hospital in the province and has expanded activities into other sectors including primary care, public health, long-term care, and community care. The benefits of telemedicine include: improved access to doctors, nurses and other health care professionals; timely access to emergency services, regardless of time and distance; reduced time, cost and risk of travel for patients, families and health care providers, thereby minimizing the disruption of their daily lives.
