Cardinal Construction has been an active member of the Fond du Lac community for 27 years. The company has served the commercial, industrial, institutional, municipal, religious, recreation & private sectors in the company's community proudly. As the company celebrate 27 years in the construction industry, the company thought that this would be an... excellent opportunity to reflect on the company's progress. Dick Cardinal started the company in 1980 in a 10' x 10' bedroom in his home with himself as the only employee. In 1984, he moved the company to 66 E. Scott Street to house the growing business. In 1991, he made another move to the company's current location on Industrial Parkway. In 2002, the company expanded the company's offices to what the company thought would accommodate the company for years to come. Less than three years later, the company completed another office expansion. What started out as a one-man operation, currently employs an office staff of 5 and field staff of 20-50. Cardinal's first job was a small commercial remodeling project. Upon completion of that project, Dick landed a residential home project and needed to hire his first employee. His first bonded job was for the City of Fond du Lac. He had to take out a mortgage on his house in order to secure a bond for the project. The company recently asked Dick if there were any decisions that he made over the years that stand out above the others and he replied: "(yes, the decision of) ...going into business!
