CARBO-CERAMICS LIMITED WAS ORIGINALLY INCORPORATED AS MIDNAPORE ZEMINDARY COMPANY IN THE YEAR 1902 AND WAS INVOLVED IN THE ZAMINDARY ACTIVITIES. AFTER ABOLITION OF ZEMINDARY RIGHTS THE COMPANY GOT ITS NAME CHANGED TO MIDNAPORE COMMERCIAL COMPANY LIMITED IN THE YEAR 1965 AND CARRIED ON BUSINESS OF SOLE SELLING AGENTS OF YARN, JUTE AND GRAPHITE ELECT... RODES ETC. THE COMPANY LATER DIVERSIFIED AND ESTABLISHED AN UNDERTAKING FOR MANUFACTURE OF CLAY GRAPHITE STOPPER HEADS AT MYSORE AND ACCORDINGLY GOT ITS NAME CHANGED TO ITS PRESENT NAME CARBO- CERAMICS LIMITED IN THE YEAR 1982. THE SAID UNIT WAS LATER SOLD BY THE COMPANY IN 1996. THE COMPANY HAS INVESTED ITS SURPLUS FUNDS IN MUTUTAL FUNDS AND FIXED INTEREST BEARING SECURITITES. Mr. Manak Chand Darak, aged 65 years, is a Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company. He is a Bachelor of Commerce and has more than 40 years of experience in the field of accounts, finance and taxation matters. Mr. Pawan Kumar Joshi, aged 61 years, is a Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company. He is a Bachelor of Commerce and has more than 25 years of experience in the field of accounts, finance and taxation matters. Mr. Sanjeev Marda, aged 47 years, is a Non-Executive Independent Director of the Company. He is an Associate Member of ICSI, a Cost Accountant and also a Law Graduate and has more than 12 years of experience in managing legal and secretarial matters. Ms. Samarpita De, aged 34 years, is woman Director of the Company. She is a B.Sc.
