Original oil paintings from the old masters have been around for centuries but printing on canvas using wide-format printers is a relatively new concept which was only introduced in the 1990s. With today's technology the quality of modern canvas prints is nearly as good as the original oil paintings. CanvasRus only use HP large-format Designjet printers which produce outstanding image quality with vivid enduring colours using fade resistant HP Vivera pigment inks which, according to HP, have a guaranteed colour fastness of 200 years! The most important aspect of the printing process is colour management - ensuring the end result accurately matches the image displayed on our monitors. This involves the calibration of printers and monitors to the highest level which can only be achieved using specialist technology, which is now supplied with the most modern HP Designjet printers. All photos are now printed onto ultra white polyester canvas which has a strong cotton like textured matt canvas surface. This new type of canvas is far more flexible which means we can guarantee that there will not be any cracking around the edges of the frame which is often the case with the 100% cotton canvas. As the majority of our trade customers are in the Hotel and Leisure industries, we were always looking for a way of making our canvases more resilient. e found the solution - by applying a heavy duty laminate to all canvases, this not only produces a reasonably waterproof and scuff proof surface, but lifts and enhances the colours whilst ensuring the very best quality and sustained durability of the printed image.
