Canton Garden Center

Canton Garden Center was organized in 1946 by four clubs: Canton Garden Club, Canton Scrosis Garden Club, Town Garden Club, and the Y.W.C.A. Evening Garden Club. Today only two of these remain active: Canton Garden Club and Town Garden Club. The first meetings were held in the second story office of the Harter Estate. The present building opened in... September 1956. The objectives of this organization shall be to maintain a Garden Center with a library as a source of free gardening information; to unite the clubs and individuals in the common interest of home and community beautification; and to encourage and train our youth in appreciation of our natural resources. This organization shall operate not for profit. To My Fellow Canton Garden Center Members, I am so very honored to be your 2020 Canton Garden Center President! And my primary goal is to keep this 74 year old organization an asset for our Community. Situated in our beautiful Park System, our "home" has been the backdrop for countless wedding and family pictures - a memory which lasts forever. No matter what is celebrated here, everyone loves our gardens!!! In order to keep our Center thriving for another 74 years or more it will take the efforts of ALL of us. So this year's theme, "Cultivating Connections" should help us "bloom" with the cooperation of our individual Club members; Garden Clubs; Board of Directors; Executive Committee; our area youth; and the Canton Parks and Recreation Department. "Connecting" with others results in a positive energy that accomplishes goals and strengthens bonds.
