Camp LEAD

Camp LEAD LLC is a program that seeks to educate, empower and equip youth with the necessary tools to become successful academically and professionally. The program focuses on developing leadership skills, a mindset of entrepreneurship, and a heart for community service. The development of an entrepreneurial mindset has to do with our youth succeed... ing whether they pursue higher education, enter the workforce, or become entrepreneurs. The program seeks to empower each youth to develop thought processes and actions that lead to economic success, a sense of citizenship in their communities but also to create opportunities for growth for themselves as well as others. Through the use of guided discussions, experiential learning activities, and community service projects youth will complete this camp with a greater understanding of their role as leader in their homes, communities, and schools. Youth will be taught the importance of forming positive and productive collaborations with peers, counselors and community partners for the purposes of accomplishing a task and/or obtaining a goal. Youth participating in Camp LEAD will be challenged to take initiative, become creative and innovative in their thinking, and to be assertive in their pursuits for success. Youth who are provided with leadership and entrepreneurship education develops cross-curriculum appreciation and understanding, which is vital in students, for they are most unsure of why they need an education. It provides youth with options besides being an employee with little opportunity, and instills stronger value and personal investment. An entrepreneurship program, or supplement, can be an important tool for youth, for it takes the emphasis off "why do we have to learn this" and puts it on "here is where this will be beneficial for you to know this."
