Retro Review: 23 years later, Nikon's swivel-design Coolpix 950 remains fun and impressive
Retro camera enthusiasts will be pleased to see that Gordon Laing of Cameralabs is back with a new Retro Review, this time focused on the Nikon Coolpix 950. It's been a good time for retro Nikon fans lately, as Laing's last Retro Review was for the flagship Nikon D1 DSLR. It's a compact all-in-one digital camera released in 1999 for a cool $799, which is over $1,300 today after adjusting for inflation. Laing was able to procure one from an antique shop in his native Brighton, England, for a mere 15 pounds (around $20). Gordon Laing, founder of CameraLabs, is back with another Retro Review, this time taking a look at the PowerShot Pro1, a bridge camera that served as the flagship offering in Canon’s fixed-lens PowerShot Pro series lineup. At the time of its release, back in February 2004, the PowerShot Pro1 retailed for roughly $1,000. Inside the camera is what was then a top-of-the-line 8MP Sony 2/3in CCD sensor that could capture photographs between 50 and 400
