Camanachd Association

The Association and the sport of shinty are governed by the Memorandum of Association, the Articles of Association, which are combined in the Memorandum of Association & Articles of Association , and the Byelaws . These documents set out all the rules relating to the Association and the sport of shinty, including the Rules of Play. As a company lim... ited by guarantee, the Association is also governed by relevant company legislation. The Objectives of the Camanachd Association are set out in Article 3 of the Memorandum of Association. The main two of these, so far as the playing of shinty is concerned, are: to govern competitions and activities in connection with the Sport. The Association develops a strategic plan every three years which sets out how it will achieve these objectives and how shinty will be fostered, encouraged, promoted and developed. Derek joined the Camanachd Association in 2017 after spending four years with the National Agency for Sport, sportscotland. Previous to that Derek held positions in Disability Sport with Sheffield Wednesday and as a PE Teacher and School Sport Coordinator in London. Derek has also started and led International Sport for Development Charity Umutima supporting education and sport in Zambia and also coached across America. Throughout his career Derek has held positions that have supported others in achieving their goals as well as playing sport to a semi professional level. Derek said Shinty is a vibrant and integral part of Scottish life and the favourite part of my role is getting to support the incredible efforts of volunteers and all those that contribute to our sport across Shinty playing communities. Graham has been with the Camanachd Association since July 2007. Previously he held positions with Scottish Disability Sport, Scottish Rugby Union and Highland Council Education department.
