About California Wines Summit

Wine Institute's first "International California Wines Summit" for 21 of the worlds top buyers and media from Canada, the U.K., Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan and China, representing California's top seven wine export markets was held in October 2013 to provide these influential visitors with in-depth exposure to the quality and diversity of California wines today. The Summit opened with a "State of the State" and industry briefing by Wine Institute President and CEO Bobby Koch, Vice President of International Marketing Linsey Gallagher and Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom. Tastings led by top U.S. wine trade and media presented more than 350 wines from around the state and events included more than 150 vintners. Wine Institute held its second international "California Wines Summit in May 2015, hosting 23 key wine media and buyers from Canada, the U.K., Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, China, Japan, Taiwan and Latin America. The weeklong agenda of tastings and experiences was geared toward building on Californias worldwide reputation as a high quality wine producer and top destination for wine country travel. The influential media/buyer group tasted 400 wines from more than 50 American Viticultural Areas in California, presented by nearly 200 vintners from across the state.
