Café Pinfold

Ive decided to go ahead and publish 40,000 words of the last episode of King Touey; the final 15,000 words or so are not in the state of polish that Id like them to be, so Ill hold those back. The next post (in a few weeks, a month, a couple months; whenever) will be my lastthe end of King Touey and the end of the Cafe Pinfold blog. I realized fair... ly early on that I couldnt keep up with a blog; you either post regularly or you dont, and I didnt. Once I had up all of the archival stuff, the old scripts and comics and lectures and fiction, there wasnt much else to do but to keep posting my new stuff, and I just dont turn it out the way I used to. I still write fiction every day, I just dont get as much done in a session as I used to, nor am I as forgiving of the stuff I do write. So without regular postings, this seemed less and less a good idea. Earlier this summer, I was booted out of the writing studio Id been using for about four years; it was a tiny room above the last video store in Richmond, Virginia, but late in June the store suddenly closed, and its five upstairs tenants had to get out of the building in a week. So that sucked. Id hoped (because Im a superstitious writer) to finish the current novel in the place where Id started it and gone to write it day after day since the start; unfortunately, thats not to be the case. Fortunately, though, last year I had a new garage built in my backyard that fixed up as a work space, so I made the transition to my new studio pretty painlessly. Heres a glimpse of it. And heres most of the last episode of King Touey , my long, long (and long in the making) novel about an oil refinery strike in 1915, at the Standard Oil Refinery in Bayonne, New Jersey, my old hometown. Sometime in the first week of August, Cafe Pinfold disappeared/crashed/skipped town leaving no forwarding address/went into the Witness Protection Programsomething happened, and its taken one helluva an effort to track it down and drag it back.
