HELPING ALL CHILDREN DEVELOP RESILIENCE SO THEY CAN THRIVE. When children learn to dance, play ball, or play an instrument, they are developing resiliencybuilding relationships, learning to cope, dealing with frustration, and delaying gratification. For children in low income families, lack of transportation or cost can keep them from these essenti... al opportunities. More than 45,000 NWLA students live in low income households, and more than 20,000 children live under the poverty line. All children deserve opportunities to reach their potential and succeed in life. NWLA Thrive is a community partnership that helps all kids build resilience. Adverse Childhood Experiences Increases the Risk Of: Created partnership between juvenile justice and child care community to provide introduction to Trust Based Relational Intervention to child care providers at an annual conference. Caddo Parish Schools has developed an implementation plan to become a trauma-responsive school district by 2020. Developed a pilot project to promote resiliency through enrichment and yoga in the J. S. Clark after school program to serve 65 students. Results of pilot will be utilized to develop a toolkit for implementation in other sites. Convened 50 mental health professionals to identify priority evidence based practices to treat trauma; Scholarships have been provided for 22 licensed mental health clinicians who serve Medicaid clients to receive training in evidence-based practices to treat trauma. LSUHSC pediatric clinic will begin screening patients for ACEs and make referrals for interventions. Caddo Parish Juvenile Court routinely screens children and parents for trauma history and implements appropriate interventions.
