Locally owned and operated, BBP features a Viet-Cajun menu, five beer brewing tanks and a full bar. Chef Anh Luu was born and raised in the Vietnamese Community of New Orleans and honed her skills for 10 years in her restaurant in Portland, Oregon before returning home to run BBPs food program. Our Brewmaster, Sonny Day, joins us from Urban South B... rewery and is excited to brew the best tasting beer in New Orleans here at Bywater Brew Pub. Our space will feature art from local artists, many of whose studios are located on the second floor. Located at 3000 Royal Street at the corner of Montegut in the Bywater Neighborhood of New Orleans Louisiana, we look forward to serving our neighbors in the Bywater and beyond. Born in New Orleans where she lived with her Vietnamese family, Chef Anh Luu experienced a melding of culinary cultures early in her childhood. She grew up with the flavors of Southeast Asia from her mothers cooking alongside the classic French, Spanish, Caribbean, and African cuisine of New Orleans. This delicious culinary melange inspired her years later to create the unique Asian-Cajun cuisine that she introduced at Tapalaya in Portland, Oregon in the fall of 2014. Since then, Chef Anh Luu has earned notoriety by appearing on Food Network Chopped, Food Networks Grill Dads, Portland Cooks cookbook, and went viral with her Phorrito Pop Ups. Sonny is a lifelong resident of the greater New Orleans area. He has 28 years of professional and home brewing experience working for the original Dixie Brewing Co., Abita Brewing Co., Gordon Biersch New Orleans, and most recently Urban South Brewery. Sonny owned his own commercial brewery on the Westbank of Jefferson Parish and has a small pilot brewing system at his home where he homebrews the same beer for which his brewery was known.
