Butler Land and Timber Company, Incorporated has a long and successful history in south Alabama, dating back five generations. The company as it is known today was formed by Brad Butler in May of 2000, following the untimely death of his father, John Allen Butler, in February, 2000. Brad's grandfather, John H. Butler worked for his grandfather, Rob... ert M. Gibson, owner of Gibson Lumber Company prior to World War II. Following his service in World War II, Mr. Butler returned home and started Butler Logging Company in Rutledge, Alabama. Mr. Butler's oldest son, John Allen followed in his father's footsteps after obtaining a forestry degree from Auburn University. On January 1, 1976, John A. Butler founded Crenshaw Forest Services and continued exclusively in the timber business until 1990, when he obtained his real estate license and formed Butler Realty and Timber Company. Between 1990 and 2000, John Allen provided services in land management, timber harvesting, replanting and consultation to clients throughout central and south Alabama. Beginning during his preteen years and continuing up until his father's death, Brad spent countless hours under the careful tutelage of his father, learning the inner workings of the land and timber business. He was taught a love of the land that gives him the foresight to look at the potential of an acre of land or a tract of timber, rather than just looking at the current monetary value.
