Building Blocks 4 Kids

Building Blocks 4 Kids (BB4K) was founded in 2010 with a goal of helping foster and underprivileged youth participate in activities outside of the home and school. The reason behind this was to get youth involved in something that they were passionate about so that they would: build higher self esteem be more likely to stay in school be more likely... to graduate from school be more likely to attend post high school education keep them active and involved in their communities be part of something that was just for them BB4K is ran by an entire volunteer Board of Directors. No staff get paid to run these programs and it is all out of the board volunteers desire to be a part of something to help the community. All of our board work full time jobs and give numerous hours of their free time to help continue to run this organization. We are quickly approaching 5 years of service to both Multnomah and Clackamas County youth. In 5 years we have helped over 350 youth participate in activities such as: football basketball music lessons ballet dance tutoring soccer baseball karate science camp outdoor school and many more In our 5th year we hope to serve many more youth and continue our From Wish to Reality Program and expand on our Supportive Service Program, which is the second program that was started to help support youth with supplies which they may need but that their family/foster family may not be able to afford, such as: eye glasses sports equipment necessary to participate in activities bike to get to bus stops clothing to get them through a few days in foster care tablet for those with traumatic brain injury due to accident In order to continue our efforts and to expand future programs we are in need of your help.
