Brown Slough Bed & Breakfast

We have lived in Alaska since 1973. We started out homesteading in a one room log cabin on the Holitna River, 300 miles upriver from Bethel and 300 miles from the nearest road. n those early days we grew our own food and harvested fish and moose living a subsistance lifestyle. We home-schooled our children in the early days, but in 1983 we moved to... Bethel so our children could attend school and we could replenish the money coffer. Debbie is a registered nurse and has worked in the health care field. Grant has worked as a commercial fisherman, commercial painter,carpenter and now runs Bethel Heating Service. Our 6 children were born and raised in Bethel and now live throughout Alaska raising our 6 grandchildren. Our family ran Brown Slough Bed and Breakfast for 15 years in two adjoining homes until 2009 when we sold both buildings and took a break from making beds, dusting, cleaning and all the chores associated with a good B and B. Now that all our children have moved away we have decided to reopen Brown Slough B and B in our beautiful 5 bedroom home. We love Bethel and the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. It's a great community of the nicest folks you'll ever meet. Having lived here for 40 years, we have resources and contacts that can enrichen your stay and help you find your way around.
