Simon is the principal paralegal of Simon M. Brown Paralegal Services and has been providing legal services to Newmarket and the surrounding areas since 2011. He is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario (formerly, the Law Society of Upper Canada); North Americas oldest bar association. He graduated with honours from the Accelerated Paralegal Progr... am at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology and holds a certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the same institution. Before becoming a paralegal, Simon was a union brother of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada (IATSE). He was a member of IATSE Local 667, also known as the International Cinematographers Guild, working as a freelance camera assistant in the motion picture industry in Toronto. Before turning to private practice, Simon was an intake volunteer at the Community Legal Clinic for Simcoe, Kawartha, and Lake of Bays. As a volunteer, Simon assisted on Landlord and Tenant files on the behalf of low-income Tenants and those denied Canada Pension Plan Disability benefits, Ontario Disability Support Plan benefits, and Ontario Works benefits. He also served as a fill-in Intake Volunteer Supervisor to cover internal staff vacations at the Community Legal Clinic. Simon has helped the community with selected pro bono work for clients under social assistance. He maintains a blog on Small Claims Court, Landlord/Tenant matters, and Provincial Offences on this website.
