Communication between whnau and teachers is very important, and regular communication, both verbal and through the daily communication book allows on-going dialogue about each childs needs and progress. A range of activities support learning and development and is provided in a flexible manner around key routings of the day. Pihinga means seedling in Mori and just as seedlings are developing roots, and are busy growing and developing, so are our toddlers and young children. Pihinga aims to provide a dynamic and interactive environment that ensures plenty of variety within the learning environment. Our toddlers and young children are bursting with energy and inquisitiveness, and the teachers use observations to understand individual and group interests, to encourage and expand the learning and development of the children in our care. We believe in creating an environment with consistent boundaries, that fosters safety and wellbeing. We provide hands on experience for children in a wide variety of curriculum areas, to create confident, independent lifelong learners. Khuri is our newest addition to Brooklyn Kids, and aims to provide a stimulating and well rounded curriculum for our older children. Khuri means sapling in Mori, and just like saplings, our older children are growing strong and independent gaining confidence and competence as they grow. A balance between free play and structured learning opportunities allows for children to develop their individual interests, as well as preparing them for the primary school educational environment.
