We also believe that home and school must share the responsibility for teaching appropriate behaviour. Teamwork between parents and teachers is essential to ensure the best possible outcomes for students. It is essential that parents are informed of their child's behaviour - both negative and positive. The focus is on students learning to recognise and take responsibility for their own behaviour in order that they become socially adept, responsible members of the community. We accept that students are on a pathway of learning. They arrive at our school as children and leave as young adults. Our Behaviour Management Policy recognises that it takes some students longer than others to develop an awareness of appropriate behaviour. We recognise and cater for individual differences and circumstances, and provide a flexible process for teachers and administrators to respond to behavioural issues. The emphasis at Bridgetown High School is on the repair and rebuilding of relationships, rather than punishment. The focus is on the behaviour, not the child.
