Brennan Band

William J. Brennan High School is one of 11 Comprehensive High Schools in the Northside Independent School District located in North San Antonio, and Northwest Bexar County. Since opening in 2010, The Brennan High School Band has become one of the premier bands in the San Antonio Area and also in the State of Texas with a strong tradition of excell... ence in the overall program. The Brennan Band program has been the TMEA Region 11 Honor Band, TMEA Region 29 Honor Band, Area H Honor Band Finalist, Percussive Arts Society Call for Tapes Winner, PASIC Artist Ensemble, and a National Band Festival Featured Ensemble. The band program has also annually produced multiple TMEA All-State Students, performing with the All-State Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band. The Brennan Band program consists of a competitive marching band that has been to the UIL State Marching Contest in 2013, and placed second in the US Bands National Championships in 2018, 3 concert bands, symphony orchestra, jazz ensemble, and a competitive winter guard. The Winterguard was a Texas Colorguard Circuit (TCGC) State Champion in 2019. In addition, AP Music Theory and Chamber Ensemble opportunities are offered in conjunction with the normal band curriculum. Bexar County and San Antonio, TX are considered one of the fastest growing and most diverse counties and cities in the United States. In 2018, Northside ISD was given the distinction as one of NAMMs Best Communities for Music Education.
