Bobby Murray Chevrolet was founded by Bobby Murray Sr. in July 1966. Mr. Murray was born and grew up in the small Nash County town of Samaria, N.C. In 1949, the 20-year-old farm boy signed a professional baseball contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers and pitched for three seasons. After injuring his back, Mr. Murray returned to Raleigh and in 1952 inv... ested what little he had into Murray's Gulf Service in downtown Raleigh, and later another service station, Bobby's Gulf Service. Although these service stations were highly successful, Mr. Murray still had one unfulfilled ambition, his own Chevrolet dealership. In 1966, his exciting dream became a reality. Since opening its doors in 1966, Bobby Murray Chevrolet has been a symbol of professionalism and customer satisfaction. Mr. Murray, who passed away in August 2003, built his dealership around quality people and exceptional service, knowing that this combination would prove to be a great success. The same way of doing business and living is continued today by Bobby Murray Jr., president of Bobby Murray Chevrolet. Bobby Murray Chevrolet has been the recipient of many awards from General Motors, including the national honor of World Class Dealer by Chevrolet three times for exceptional overall performance and customer satisfaction.
