Blue Grass Plating has been in business for nearly 40 years. Established as an Electroplating Metal Finishing Supplier in 1969 with 5 employees in a 2200 square foot building with approximately 50 customers. Over the past 42 years the company has grown to operate two 100,000+ square foot facilities with over 100 employees on 3 shifts, 5 days per we... ek. The company is constantly changing and expanding to accommodate the needs and requirements of the company's growing list of customers. In 2006 Blue Grass Plating's Quality Management System was assessed by NSF-ISR and found to be in compliance with the ISO 9001:2000 Standards. The company was initially certified to ISO 9002:1994 in 2000 and maintained that certification for 6 years. In December of 2006 the company were awarded a Certificate of Registration with a scope of: Electro Coating and high volume zinc electroplating, phosphate, black oxide, passivate, cleaning and pickling, chromates - hexavalent and trivalent - clear, yellow, black, olive drab and other protective coating. (Barrel and rack plating). This certification includes all additional processing at the company's 2nd plant located at 100 Industry Road in Richmond. Blue Grass Plating Co., as a forerunner in the conversion to non-hexavalent coatings, has experienced a dramatic increase in inquiries by current and potential customers since becoming a MATSPC approved source for General Motors.
