About Bloch Brothers

When the founder, Harry Bloch came to the United States in 1890, one of the first things he wanted to do was "own a piece of America". He wanted to buy land. With a love of the land plus knowledge of how important owning land was for the future, Harry, with his younger brother Nathan, purchased their first parcel of land in 1893. This land was cedar swamp in Minocqua, Wisconsin. They then worked the land and processed the cedar to make wood shingles. Harry Bloch taught his seven children "If you buy land and keep it, the land will keep you." A. Howard Bloch, Harry's youngest son, was president of Bloch Brothers Corporation through 1990. The "Love of the Land" that Howard inherited from his father and Uncle, was passed on to his children and then to his grandchildren, who now run the company.
