``My name is Ian Birch and I have been a builder since 1978. I started as an apprentice stone mason in Otley, West Yorkshire and since then have worked for many of the UK's leading building contractors in roles from foreman to contract manager. My experiences during this period include working on the restoration of ancient buildings, working closel... y with architects, structural engineers, archaeologists on sites of ancient interest and conservationists protecting special environments. My last assignment was to manage several large housing projects. In 1994 I formed my own company and have since then worked on projects large and small. My son Luke has joined the company having previously worked on the management team of Urban Splash on the restoration and refurbishment of the Midland Hotel in Morecambe. He is now a key member of the team. We pride ourselves on the expert skills and knowledge our tradesmen have.
