We founded BioRxn LLC in 2009 and since then have been developing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)-based methods for concentration and flux based metabolomic analysis of cell culture media and cell extracrts, tissue extracts, and biofluids. Our core technology is a NMR-compatible bioartificial liver permitting real-time analysis of metabolism. In order to bootstrap the development of this high information content bioreactor system, BioRxn LLC consults and services companies interested in conventional metabonomics of biofluids by NMR spectroscopy as well as conventional metabolomics of cell and tissue extracts. Standard pattern recognition analyses are provided, such as principle component analysis, as well as, concentrations, both of which result in statistically different metabolites and biomarkers. BioRxn has applied a robust stable isotope resolved metabolomic (SIRM) analysis to rat and human hepatocyte cultures whereby 13C-labeled substrates are incorporated into culture media or injected in animals and subsequent NMR analysis permits flux data to be combined with concentration data generating a comprehensive and quantitative metabolic network (See Publication Section for details).
