Karen Tipton has been President of Better Built Construction Services, Inc. since 2001. Better Built is one of the few women-owned construction firms in the region and is Native American-owned. Karen incorporates a hands-on approach and oversees all aspects of the firms day-to-day operations from the business development stage thru project completi... on. Karen has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry. Her work history has always been within some facet of the construction industry and has included Federal, Commercial and Residential construction, commercial and residential property management, and construction accounting. Karen stepped into the role of a business owner more than 27 years ago when she founded Trinity Professional Services. Trinity is an accounting firm which focuses on servicing clients within the construction and building material industry, as well as serving churches and non-profit organizations. Better Built Construction has consistently been recognized with awards such as Largest Tri-State Woman-Owned Business; Largest Tri-State Minority Owned Business; Dayton-Area Top 25 U.S. Department of Defense Contractors. Karen has been featured in several articles including Diversity Insight Building Up, Running Lean and Profile Magazine Building a Legacy through Heritage. Karen studied at Miami University (Ohio) and is very active in her local community. Shawn Turner joined BBCS as Vice President of Sales in 2018. With over 30 years of Packaging experience, Shawn expects Better Built to become a Packaging Leader. During his time in the Industry, Shawn was GM of General Films, a custom blown film manufacturer in the Midwest. After running this facility for 16 years, Shawn decided to take a position with Accutech Films as Director of Sales. This allowed Shawn to use his operational knowledge to help customers improve their products and processes.
