Better Border Biosecurity

The B3 unincorporated joint venture integrates investment and expertise from five science agencies - Plant & Food Research , AgResearch, Scion, Landcare Research, the Bio-Protection Research Centre at Lincoln University - and three end-user partners - the Ministry for Primary Industries, the Department of Conservation and the New Zealand Forest Own... ers Association. B3's strategy has five critical objectives: Leadership and Influence - B3 will facilitate integration of research and science-based solutions into biosecurity policy, decision-making and operations. B3 will also provide leadership across the wider biosecurity science community, facilitating coordination of research programmes and capability. Performance - The B3 programme will deliver valuable results, in a timely and cost-effective and recognisable way. It will demonstrate value-for-money to investors and other stakeholders, and will report clearly about progress and achievements. Uptake - The B3 programme will create value for New Zealand through the application of science-based solutions within New Zealand's border biosecurity systems. A key strength of the B3 model is the linkages with end-users and stakeholders that will translate research outputs to practical outcomes. B3 will also engage, consult and discuss B3 research activities and their implications with Mori. Capability - B3 will ensure strong capacity in critical areas, foster succession in those areas, and be able to access capability in others (nationally and internationally) when needed. Investment - The joint venture partners will collectively provide long-term certainty and confidence for the B3 teams to plan and deliver science-based solutions for New Zealand's current and future border biosecurity challenges.
