BESIK provides resources and technical advice, working with Government, to systematically collect data for sectoral planning, monitoring and evaluation. Statistical surveys are augmented by specific research undertaken by BESIK or sectoral partners to provide valuable insights and lessons so that implementation can be adjusted. Key data collection... includes: National water sources - maps of aquifers and hydrological data covering river level and rainfall data, maintained by the National Directorate for Control and Quality of Water (DNCQA). DNCQA also collect data on groundwater quality and quantity through two monitoring programs. BESIK continues to support the development of the Government of Timor Leste Water Asset Information System (SIBS), so that data is available for national planning. The information being collected includes water supply coverage, location of physical assets and social indicators. It will progressively include information to support ongoing operations and maintenance. The data is available in various formats, including through GIS representation. SIBS provides information on the status of water availability for all aldeias in Timor-Leste. A Sector Planning and Reporting Tool (SPT), shares data provided by various agencies, including NGOs. Sector partners report annually on planned and completed works to assist GoTL in its planning and reporting.
