About Bell-Gaz Ltée
The Bell-Gaz company was founded in the 50's by Harvey Belleville in Saint-Félix-de-Valois in Lanaudire. At that time, Mr. Belleville, tinsmith by trade, bought 50 of those 100lb. bottles and took care of delivery himself after his dayshift. The sale of propane gas had a real succes especially with poultry farming in the region. In 1953, the name of Bell-Gaz has been registered to become Bell-Gaz Ltd. in 1963. Starting in the 70's, his sons, Guy, Pierre and Robert took over and developed the firm to become the biggest propane gas independent company in Québec. During these years, several independent distributors were bought by the giants of the industry. The board of directors of Bell-Gaz Ltd. refused all offers and decided to expand. This decision influenced a fall of prices, instituted by the giants of the industry in the hope of eliminating other remaining independents.
