Twenty-five percent of families enrolled at the school receive some form of tuition assistance thanks to the Belen Financial Assistance Program and the generosity of so many. Together, weve been able to distribute annually an estimated $1.8 million and in doing so made the possibility of a Jesuit education a reality for many young men. Because Bele... n is a tuition-driven institution, with more than 80% of our budget coming from tuition, all parents of students at our school are asked to make a pledge to the Annual Fund at the time of registration to help fill the gap between tuition and the actual cost of education at Belen. Every pledge helps, no matter the size. Ask us about additional types of gifts: matching funds, endowments, bequests through a will or codicil, gifts of stock and securities, real estate (with permission from the Board of Trustees), and individual retirement accounts. Belen Jesuit Preparatory School was founded in 1854 in Havana, Cuba by Queen Isabel II of Spain. The task of educating students was assigned to the priests and brothers of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), whose teaching tradition is synonymous with academic excellence and spiritual discipline. In 1961, the new political regime of Cuba confiscated the School property and expelled the Jesuit faculty. The School was re-established in Miami the same year, and over the next decade, continued to grow.
