Bedford High School

Bedford High School is a comprehensive public high school that opened its doors to students for the first time in August 2007. Our student population in this, our first year, is 600 students in grades 9 &10. Our 11th and 12th grade students continue to attend West High School in Manchester, NH and other area private high schools where Bedford stude... nts have been enrolled for years. In the next two years, we will welcome an additional class each year as we grow to become a grades 9-12 high school by 2009. Bedford High School offers a full complement of rigorous and exciting courses and co-curricular activities leading our students to many opportunities in high school and beyond. In our first year, students, staff and families have worked tirelessly to build a community of learners engaged in challenging academics, and committed to establishing Bedford High School as our home. In one year we have been able to realize the commitment to quality education through the many initiatives we are spearheading. We are implementing the state's competency-based education-leading the way for NH secondary schools which will all be competency based by '08-'09. We are proud to be the first IB school in New Hampshire to be a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization Programme offering the IB Diploma Programme to our first graduating class. We have established ourselves as a force to be contended with in an athletic realm, and musically our students have excelled in local, state, and regional competitions. Not bad for a high school of only 9th and 10th graders! In accordance with state law and best practices, we are fully approved by the New Hampshire Department of Education. We are seeking candidacy for accreditation by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The formal process of accreditation will begin once the school is in full operation.
