Our history in the Hampton Roads community spans four generations of the Wilkins family, beginning with the founding of the Norfolk Motor Company by Walter Wilkins, Sr. Located at 1500 Monticello Avenue, this facility was the areas foremost Cadillac and Oldsmobile dealership. In 1955, after returning from World War II and entering the car business, his son, Jack The Colonel Wilkins opened our current location on North Military Highway as Wilkins Chevrolet. Walter Wilkins II purchased his fathers interest in the company in 1981, renaming it Bay Chevrolet and later adding Kia in 2000 and Saab in 2003. Keeping cars on the road has always been a Wilkins family passion. Before he opened Norfolk Motor Company in 1938, Walter Wilkins Sr. developed a strong following in the area as an honest and talented mechanic. Seventy-six years later his grandson is returning the family business to its roots " trustworthy and reliable service.
