Twelve Baskets is a redistributor of dry, refrigerated and frozen quality food products. Twelve Baskets is committed to providing a service that fulfills the needs of its customers located in the Southeastern United States. The name Twelve Baskets usually leads to the question "how did you come up with a name like Twelve Baskets? The story begins i... n 1980 when Ken McMillan was put out of work after his family's food business burned to the ground. Ken had worked with his family for ten years and was suddenly without a job. At the time, he and his wife Liz had three sons: Kirk age 9; Sean, age 6; and Matthew age 3. After much thought and prayer, Ken and Liz decided to start their own business. In deciding a name for the business, they were inspired by the Gospel of John 6:5-14. In this story, Jesus fed 5,000 men with a meager two fish and five loaves of bread that were blessed and multiplied. When all were fed, the disciples gathered the leftovers, which totaled twelve baskets full of bread and fish. Therefore, Twelve Baskets, Inc. was created with little capital resources and a tremendous amount of faith that through God's blessings they could provide for their family. In the beginning, Ken and Liz operated out of their home. Ken handled the buying, selling and distribution, while Liz handled the administration. In 1980, repackaging edible oils made up 95 percent of the business. Today, Twelve Baskets, Inc. offers over 3,000 items and operates out of an 95,000 square foot warehouse located in Atlanta, Georgia servicing food distributors and processors across the southeastern United States.
