Barred Business is a grassroots organization founded in 2020 by formerly incarcerated Black women, dedicated to empowering justice-impacted individuals and their communities through organizing, advocacy, and economic justice. The organization focuses on building power by mobilizing communities, advocating for policy changes, and promoting civic eng... agement to ensure justice-impacted people can live and thrive without discrimination. With a mission to heal and resource these communities, Barred Business has successfully implemented programs that support economic independence and legislative reforms. Their work has reached over 1.3 million homes and has led to significant policy shifts, including the first ordinance in Atlanta recognizing formerly incarcerated individuals as a protected class.Read More
