Banas Concrete Service has been a family owned and operated ready mix concrete company since 1938. It started 3 generations ago with John Banas Sr. It all started as a cement block making company in East Springfield, MA, but as time changed so did the demand. John purchased more land in Ludlow, MA as he was expanding the block business, he added bu... ilding materials and built a sand and stone screening plant. John had eight children and his four youngest boys stayed in the business. With the housing boom following WWII, three of the brothers Henry, Sam and Sylvester realized the demand for ready mix concrete and built a batching plant on the new land in Ludlow. The plant still stands today, but now has a state of the art batching plant next door. They all retired except for John Banas Jr. who is now 82 and the current president. He will soon be passing down his share of the company to his sons Dan Banas & John J. Banas. When Sylvester retired in 1991, he passed his share of the company down to his son James Banas. Those are the two current owners today. We are now in the 3rd generation of Banas owners and more to come.
