AXA has been in operation in southern New Brunswick since 1982 during which time we have enjoyed the challenge and opportunities faced by the Hereford breed. Probably the most rewarding part of our involvement in the cattle industry is the number of people across North America we have had the opportunity to meet, many of whom have become friends. I... n an effort to improve our genetics we have formed partnerships with many experienced and progressive breeders. AXA currently has partnership cattle with Golden Oak Livestock, Harvie Ranching, OVHF Polled Herefords, Dorbay Polled Herefords, Double J Polled Herefords, Iron Lake Ranch, David and Ben Alward and our most recent partner, Walker Polled Herefords. The Hereford breed has changed, in our opinion, to become much more relevant to the commercial breeder. We have attempted to change our herd to sound maternal traits while at the same time increasing muscle and mass. We feel we have a product for both the commercial and purebred operator. We wish to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of two individuals who really make AXA Farms work. Henry Knight maintains and calves out the main cow herd at Lower Jemseg, NB and Dale Black maintains the heifer calves, embryo transfers and recips at our location in Wilmot, NB.
