The Australia India Institute @ Delhi is Indias only national centre for research and analysis on Australia. Through its teaching, research, public policy and outreach programs, it is building Indias understanding of Australia and deepening and enriching the relationship between the two countries. The Australia India Institute (AII) @ Delhi is also... a hub for dialogue, research and partnerships between India and Australia. Nodes of the growing AII network currently exist at Deakin University, The University of Melbourne, La Trobe University, the University of New South Wales and Surapaneni Education Group and more are planned. The Australia India Institute @ Delhis is Indias only national centre for research and analysis on Australia. In 2014 the AII was pleased to receive both commonwealth and state funding. The Hon Tony Abbott MP, Prime Minister of Australia, announced $3 million in funding during his trip to India in September. Later in the year, the Victorian governments department of state development, business and innovation renewed its funding with a contribution of $1.5 million over three years. The state government has been a major partner of the Institute supporting trade missions, research collaborations and education scholarships among other initiatives. The Institute also received funding to launch the Australia India Leadership Dialogue (AILD) an annual bipartisan dialogue of leaders from Australia and India. Participants of the dialogue will include leaders from business, public life and civil society, including the media. The dialogue will be held alternately in India and Australia. Mr. Anthony Pratt, Chairman and CEO of Pratt Industries and Global Chairman of Visy Industries, will be the Australian Patron of the dialogue for the first four years while Anand Mahindra of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited was the Indian Patron for the first dialogue which was held in October 2015.
