At Atlas Physical Therapy, we believe manual therapy is necessary in the rehabilitation of most types of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. Pain is often caused by a mechanical block to movement, movement dysfunction (too much or too little movement), or a strength imbalance. It is only able to be fully relieved by including manual therapy techn... iques along with therapeutic exercise, postural re-education, and traditional physical therapy modalities. At Atlas Physical Therapy, we utilize a comprehensive approach and treat the cause of the problem (the dysfunction), thus restoring movement, reducing pain and improving function. This is known as getting you back to your life. Vicky began her career caring for injured athletes when she was 16 years old. She was introduced to athletic training after sustaining an injury while playing varsity volleyball. After observing the lack of care being provided to female athletes, she became a student athletic trainer and worked with football and all-female sports while in high school. She then decided to attend college to be an athletic trainer. Vicky attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education in 1990 with an emphasis on Athletic Training. After graduating and obtaining her athletic training license, she decided to go on to physical therapy school as the rehabilitation aspect of athletic training was the most challenging and rewarding for her. Vicky graduated from the University of Texas Health Science in San Antonio in 1995 with a B.S. in Physical Therapy. She has continued her studies of the human body through a vast array of continuing education courses and hands-on training. With more than 20 years of experience as a physical therapist, Vickys expertise includes a wide range of clients, including teen athletes, Olympic athletes, and anyone with an injury, pain, or who just needs to be able to walk into their office or home from the car.
