This year, Ask Alice is raising funds for Heaps Decent - a Sydney based not-for-profit organisation using hip hop as one of their tools for empowering, inspiring & educating disadvantaged young people of Australia. With over 200 ongoing workshops in schools, community halls & juvenile justice centres, Heaps Decent has identified the power of educat... ing through music & is focusing on increased literacy & positive futures for those engaging in their workshops. On top of the music workshops, Heaps Decent is committed to finding & nurturing the creativity of diverse young people and emerging artists. By providing resources & various opportunities, Heaps Decent supports the development of high quality Australian music with a unique identity. Ask Alice & Heaps Decent are working towards the goal of expanding Heaps Decent music workshops in NSW juvenile justice centres. Currently, Heaps Decent runs these workshops in 3 of the 7 juvenile justice centres in NSW but through this calendar project, Heaps Decent & Ask Alice are aiming to raise $20,000 so the Heaps Decent program can expand to all 7 centres - with your support carrying the project towards this goal! With artwork by an impressive lineup of Australian designers who have all built their hand-lettering skills under the teachings of OLD SCHOOL NEW SCHOOL's talented Veronica Grow, the calendar is illustrated with fun renditions of uplifting lyrics from some of the best hip hop of the 80's & 90's.
