About Ashrey Farms
Ashrey Farms was founded in 2007 in Decatur County in beautiful Southwest Georgia. Ashrey is a Hebrew word meaning blessed. The 24-acre organic blueberry farm is located on a 1600-acre nature preserve, which is managed intensely for native plants, game and timber. Both partners, Mike Grimsley and Wesley Popiel, discovered that they have a passion for organic farming. With Mike's business background and Wes's crop science background, their talents complimented each other well, and they decided to start this exciting venture. Ashrey Farms includes several varieties of blueberries. There is 3 acres of early highbush ripening from mid-April to mid-May. Three varieties of rabbiteye bushes make up the remaining 21-acres and ripen from mid-May to late June. This spring/summer is the blueberries' third growing season.
