Artsfunds is the first organization that enables individuals to make tax-deductible donations to directly support the work of an artist. By harnessing technology to serve the arts - using it to introduce and implement financial transactions between donors and artists from all regions of the country - Artsfunds has created a way to reach beyond trad... itional forms of arts patronage. Artsfunds reinvents the traditional system of patronage - in which a patron supports and is engaged in a relationship with an artist - to allow any interested individual to become a patron; to enable artists to receive the funding they need for a project in a timely manner; and to empower a new pool of arts donors. Visitors to www.artsfunds.org can review artists' proposals, make donations that fund grants for artists to make their work, communicate with those they have supported, and view completed projects. It is our goal to open up the field of patronage by enabling visitors to our site to support artists working in any media whose proposals they find compelling. In Fall 2004 we will begin facilitating donations to artists on a project-by-project basis.
