Arthritis Victoria

The Arthritis Foundation of Victoria, as we are also known, was established in 1968 by Rheumatologist, Dr Les Koadlow, and since 1992 has incorporated Osteoporosis Victoria. Our self help philosophy has a history going back to the very beginning of the organisation when Dr Koadlow reflected on what support people with arthritis needed to manage the... ir condition. He acknowledged that people other than doctors had an important contribution to make in this process. He saw the need for an organisation that supported people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions to live better with their condition. At the heart of this was the idea that people with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions could help each other. This philosophy is still reflected in the strong consumer focus of our policy work and services. Our work is actively supported by people with arthritis, osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal conditions, our members, volunteers and the medical, disability and allied health professions and researchers.
