In compliance with the provisions of Act Nº 24,804 and its regulating decree, the ARN has created the Nuclear Emergency Intervention System (SIEN), which complements the existing SIER. The SIEN is designed to meet the specific function of the ARN of directing the actions of other organizations involved such as the Municipal Civil Defence, the Provi... ncial Civil Defence (of Buenos Aires and Córdoba) and at the national level, the National Directorate for Civil Protection . It is important to note that all activity of the ARN associated with the handling of accidents, especially nuclear ones, besides being supported by scientific knowledge on the subject and more than 50 years of regulatory know-how, takes place under a legal framework (National Law on Nuclear Activity Nº 24,804 and its Regulatory Decree Nº 1390) and fully complies with the recommendations and obligations originating in the international sphere.
