Armor Volunteer Fire

The Armor Volunteer Fire Company has been serving the community with 100% volunteer manpower since its inception. We provide Fire, Rescue and EMS protection to its approximately 5,500 residents in a 2.55 square mile area, responding to roughly 400 calls per year. The Armor VFC actively trains their Firefighters and EMS providers, holding 5 drills p... er month for its 56 members. With the addition of new developments to our community, The AVFC is always finding ways to keep up with our growing population by holding Tuesday night Bingo, Pull Tabs at the Erie County Fair, and our annual fund drive, which was a great success in 2008 thanks to our community. The Armor Volunteer Fire Company was officially founded on May 5th, 1944. The Company's first pumper, a 1922 American LaFrance was purchased from Hamburg Fire Department for $450.00, and from then on, the Armor Volunteer Fire Company was born. In 1945, Armor took its permanent home on Clark Street, then, in 1964, the Fire Hall was replaced in a project that took over three years.
