Arlington Place

Arlington Place opened the Fall, 2015 as a love letter to Brooklyn and Bed-Stuy. The house has long been famous- it was the setting for the family home in Spike Lees movie Crooklyn. After purchasing this rare gem, we realized that we needed to respect its original details and restore it to its natural beauty. Honoring the past and present, we fused... its spectacular bones with a soft modern, eco-friendly touch that we call liberated Victorian. This careful process took almost two years, and we offer it to our guests as an authentic and special Brooklyn brownstone experience. Arlington Place sits in the southwest area of the gorgeous landmarked brownstone section of Bedford-Stuyvesant. It is a stunning and quiet one-block long street that was a favorite of the late Charles Lockwood , author of the seminal book Bricks and Brownstones and in 2014 was selected as one of the most beautiful small blocks in the city by the New York Times. It is only one block away from one of Bed-Stuys main thoroughfares and a 10 minute express subway ride to downtown Manhattan. Arlington Place was designed and built in approximately 1887 by the versatile Victorian architect George Pool Chappell , who was one of a dozen or so amazingly talented and prolific architects that created the areas that are now referred to as Brownstone Brooklyn. His career spanned many decades, and he created many of the brownstone masterpieces you see in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Park Slope and Clinton Hill.
