Solar Finland Ltd. was founded in 2016 to act as a parent company for the existing companies. It also clarifies the corporate structure and is the corporate face for the growing co-operations in both Finland and abroad. The corporate history goes back to 1978 when the founders first started to import solar panels to Finland. While the markets were... still quite small, the products were sold only to islands, boats and caravans. The demand kept growing steadily and in 2013 Salo Solar Ltd. was founded. This company offers turnkey solutions for solar energy systems, all the way from designing to sales and installation. In addition to common solar energy solutions for houses the company also offers fully customisable options for all customer needs. While the markets kept growing, more and more cheap and low quality panels appeared that had no assurance of withstanding the harsh conditions of the Nordics. The idea of building an own production line and producing high quality solar panels started to grow. In 2014 manufacturing company Salo Tech Ltd. was founded and it began the manufacturing of SALO - Solar panels in Salo with 22.5 MW production line. Two years later the company moved its headquarters to a new location and started to build a new automised 100MW production. The technological improvements of the new production line made the manufacturing process more cost-effective and allowed major improvements with the consistent quality of the end product. This new technology began to gain attention and companies with the interests of co-operations appeared from all over the world. Eventually Salo Automation Ltd. was founded alongside the other companies to focus on building, selling and developing production lines for solar panel manufacturing.
