Amps is unique in a number of ways: Theme: it integrates the media, politics and social criticism into our reading of architecture. Open Access publications: monthly article publications, a repository of recorded academic presentations and full conference proceedings, all available open access. Other publications: it supports the production of a se... ries of books available in print and in digital form, both fee-based and open access. Events: it supports regular international conferences and periodic film screenings and debate events. Research Programmes: it has three areas of interest defined through our Housing Critical Futures, Mediated City and Teaching + Research programmes. Interview Article: between 2014-19 it published a unique model of writing called the interview article. Resources: Until 2019 it hosted a resource repository run by information professionals including news and listings of relevant events and publications. Registered in the UK. it was initially set up in 2012 and was formally incorporated in 2014. In 2015 it obtained non-profit status. Personnel changes in 2019 led to a strategic shift in emphasis away from resource listings. It is currently going through another round of formal restructuring. The current website overhaul will reflect these changes. From its beginnings AMPS was, and remains, an independent organization that supports projects in collaboration with universities, industry partners, non-profits and individuals.
