IDEA - ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN STUDIO LLC was founded in 2015 by Antonio Olazabal, a registered architect from Puerto Rico, who began his professional career after graduating from Syracuse University's School of Architecture in 2002. During his early design career, Antonio worked as lead project designer and manager for a small architecture firm in t... he capital city of San Juan. It was during this time, between 2002 and 2011, that he honed many of his skills and began nurturing his particular views and sensibilities regarding the practice of architecture. Later on, between 2011 and 2013, he was offered the opportunity to serve under Puerto Rico's State Energy Public Policy Office, as an advocate for energy efficiency and the sustainability movement in the island; an experience that fueled his interest in environmentally-conscious design and working toward a sustainable future. Most recently, before founding IDEA, Antonio played an active role in the island's renewable energy industry. Although not trained as an electrical engineer, he received certification as a photovoltaic systems installer, and was able to help a number of families and businesses obtain federal and local government incentives, used to help fund green energy projects throughout Puerto Rico. Currently, as president and founder of IDEA, Antonio's mission hinges on focusing efforts stemming from various disciplines, including architectural design, energy efficiency, and sustainable project development, into a single force driving positive change.
